Limits of uniform commercial seed
Bought uniform varieties can raise yield, but they also raise dependence: annual purchase, packet terms, and large areas on one genetic base. Disease or drought can hit everyone at once.

A small start
Keep one bed for a desi vegetable or grain. From healthy plants, save seed, dry in shade, store dry and pest-safe. Exchange with trusted neighbours.
